 By Alex Hines, Senior Writer

  • In this week’s Men’s Division 1 Poll, Prairie View A&M remains #1 with Norfolk State is a close second. Texas Southern replaced Jackson State at #4 and might be peaking at the right time. The Aggies is at #3 after sweeping North Carolina Central last week. Morgan State ranked #5 was idle last week.
  • For the Division 1 Women’s Poll, no changes, but Alabama A&M at 10-4 is under strong consideration to break into the top five and could make some serious noise in next week’s SWAC Tournament.
  • For the Small School Division 2/NAIA Men’s Poll, there is a new number 1. Xavier, who defeated previous number 1 and regular season GCAC in the Championship Game Talladega sits at the top of the poll. While Talladega drops to number 2 and Stillman, the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Western Division regular season champion lost in the Title Game to Faulkner 67 to 64 to finish runner-up in the conference tournament is now #3.
  • For the Small School Division 2/NAIA Women’s Poll, Tuskegee of the SIAC remained #1. Xavier (LA) is now number 2 after defeating #1 Seed Rust and #2 Seed Talladega to win the (GCAC) Conference Tournament. Benedict is now #3 in the poll moving up two spots. Rust drops to #4 and Talladega drops to #5.
  • Lastly, Xavier (LA) Men’s and Women’s team won the GCAC Conference Tournament. This is the fourth time in (GCAC) History as one school has won both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament
