EIGHT IS GREAT! Women’s Volleyball Swats Yellow Jackets In Home Win

Jacksonville, Florida-The Edward Waters women’s volleyball squad rolled to their eighth consecutive victory of the season in a straight sets win (25-18, 25-12, 25-19) over Allen University in an SIAC matchup at the Adams-Jenkins Complex on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers (14-6, 12-2 SIAC) were in control of the match from opening serve to the final kill, hitting .256 as a team and holding Allen (4-9) to -.061. EWU came up with 37 digs as a team in the match and to add to their defensive efforts, had five total team blocks as well.

Junior Arielly De Souza led all players with a game high 14 kills, followed by freshman Saldy Amparo Smith with a double-double effort of her own with 12 kills and 10 digs.

Senior Andrea Diaz Merced had 19 assists, with fellow senior Katarina Ribar racking up 15 for the Lady Tigers.

Edward Waters will begin a three-game road trip on Sunday in Atlanta against Clark Atlanta in another SIAC matchup. First serve is set for 2:00pm.
