Harris-Stowe’s Munson Named AMC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference has announced the Player of the Week Awards for the week ending on Sunday, November 22nd. For his efforts on the court, Deshawn Munson (SR/East St. Louis, Ill.) was named the AMC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season and the 12th time in his career.

Munson, a senior guard out of East St. Louis, Illinois, led the Hornets to their first win of the season on Saturday when he scored a game high 39 points, grabbed a team high 12 rebounds, and dished out a game high seven assists against Baker (Kan.) University. His 39-point performance puts him at 1,006 for his career in just 34 career games. He is currently leading the NAIA in points per game (41.0) while ranking fifth in rebounds per game (13.667) and eighth in assists per game (6.667).

The Hornets return to the court on Saturday, December 5th when they host Philander Smither (Ark.) College in a nonconference matchup. Prior to the start of the game, the athletic department will honor last years team for winning the 2019-20 AMC Men’s Basketball Championship. No spectators will be allowed but live stats and video will be provided.
