Alabama State releases 2022 women’s tennis schedule

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and head tennis coach Anuk Christiansz released the 2022 women’s tennis schedule Tuesday morning.

The defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion Lady Hornets open the season on the road against Samford (January 22) in Birmingham before a pair of matches in the city of Montgomery beginning with a neutral site contest against perennial power AUM. They also face Columbus State on February 4 before a road trip to Troy on February 9 to begin a three-match road trip with Southeastern Louisiana (February 12) and South Alabama (February 13) in Mobile.

After a home match with West Alabama (February 17), Alabama State hits the road for four matches beginning conference play against Mississippi Valley State (February 19) and Jackson State (February 20). They also face Florida A&M (February 26) and Georgia State (March 6) to close out the trip.

The Lady Hornets come home in mid-March for a six-match home stand beginning with four matches in four days on March 10 with Bethune-Cookman. They will face Prairie View A&M, Grambling State, and Southern in the SWAC Pod before three days off and another home match against WKU on March 16. They close out the home stand against Alcorn State (March 18), before a three-match road trip including Alabama A&M (March 26) and North Alabama (March 30).

They close out the regular season with matches against Western Carolina (April 2) and Spring Hill (April 3).
