Hornets have five regular season matches remaining
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State ran its winning streak to 17 consecutive matches over in-state rival Alabama A&M with a 4-0 sweep in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Saturday. The Hornets finished off regular season play in conference action with the win.
Alabama State (9-6, 8-1 SWAC) has won six of their last seven matches with their last loss coming at home to WKU on March 16.
Doubles Play
- Alabama State captured the doubles point with ease on Saturday, winning its matches number two and number three doubles by dropping just one point combined in the two matches.
- The number two doubles team of Urska Velec (Maribor, Slovenia) and Bea Acena (Dubai, UAE) won their match at number two without dropping a point in a 6-0 win; while the number three team of Timothee Legaud (Severac, France) and Sahra Bouchaala (Aix-En-Provence, France) won their match at number three, 6-1.
Singles Play
- Alabama State won three matches in singles play to capture the win, picking up a win at number six where Ana Tarbujaru (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory, and at number two where Velec won her match with ease 6-0, 6-1.
- The third and final win for the Hornets came at one where Bouchaala won her match 6-0, 6-3.
- Alabama State led at number three but trailed at numbers four and five when the overall match was called.

The Hornets return to action on Wednesday (March 30) against North Alabama in Florence (Ala.). They have four other matches remaining on the schedule, all at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
