MOBILE, Ala. | Alabama State picked up their first win of the season, shutting out Southeastern Louisiana in a neutral site match 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Alabama State (1-2) picked up the doubles point with relative ease on Saturday with a 6-1 win at number three by Sahra Bouchaala (Aix-En-Provence, France) and her partner Timothee Legaud (Severac, France), before the team of Urska Velec (Mariobor, Slovenia) and Bea Acena (Dubai, UAE) picked up a 6-4 win at number two doubles.
In singles play, Alabama State’s top three players were locked in battles when the match was decided with Velec leading at number three in the second set. The Lady Hornets picked up wins by Francesca Duca (Ploiesti, Romania) at number four over Sonya Kanarskaya 6-2, 6-2; while her teammates Acena and Legaud finished off their day undefeated.
Acena picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at number five, while Legaud won 6-0, 6-1 at number six.,
