Division 1 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week: North Carolina A&T Guard Kameron Langley 6-2, Senior, High Point, N.C.
Averaged 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 3.0 steals in two victories for the Aggies against North Carolina Central last week. In Saturday’s 55-53 victory in the nationally televised night game on ESPNU, Langley scored 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had three steals, and drew a critical charging foul call with 27 seconds remaining to help the Aggies retain the lead and to help swept the Eagles.
Division 1 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week: Alabama State Guard Jayla Crawford, 5-7 Junior, Birmingham, Alabama
Jayla Crawford who was named SWAC and Boxtorow player of the week finished the week averaging 21 points per game in a pair of wins over Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M for Alabama State. She scored 21 points against Texas Southern, while adding five rebounds and three assists. She scored 21 points versus Prairie View A&M to go along with four rebounds.
Small School Division 2/NAIA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Rayshawn Mart (Xavier) 6-3 Senior Guard
Mart, who was named the GCAC Player of the year and All-GCAC scored 25 points to lead Xavier (LA) to a 70 to 60 Victory over #1 Seed Talladega in the GCAC Championship Game.
Small School Division 2/NAIA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week: Abryhia Irons (Xavier)
Irons, 5-7 Soph. Guard had a double/double with 16 points and 8 rebounds as Xavier (LA) defeated #3 Seed Edward-Waters in the GCAC Tournament Championship Game. Irons scored 16 Points and 8 Rebounds as Xavier defeated #1 Seed Rust in the GCAC Semi-Final Game
