MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road Saturday looking to bounce back from a defeat earlier this week as they take on Samford.
Alabama State (2-1) is coming off a 6-1 loss to Mercer earlier this week after winning their first two matches of the season over Point and North Alabama. Assil Boussayri picked up the lone point in the match in singles play and stands at 3-0 on the year with all of his matches taking place at number three singles. Meanwhile, Ruan Du Preez stands at 2-1 in singles play with all of his matches taking place at number two singles, while as a team the Hornets are 9-9 in singles play.
A pair of doubles’ teams are 2-1 on the year including Boussayri and Du Preez at number three, while the team of Chris Andre and Juan Rodriguez has the same record at number two doubles.
Samford (2-4) enters the match after a 4-0 victory over crosstown rival UAB. The two teams have met six times prior to this weekend’s meeting, with Samford winning all six matches in the series.
The match is scheduled to start at 2 pm at the Samford Tennis Center.
