COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College placed three football players on the NCAA Super Region 2 All-Region team, presented by the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association.
Loobert Denelus, the SIAC Defensive Player of the Year, and offensive lineman Tyler Pritchett were named to the First Team, while Henry Mitchell III was named to the Second Team. Benedict and Fort Valley State were the only schools from the SIAC with representatives on the All-Region squad.
Denelus, a junior, ranks as one of the nation’s leaders in sacks (11th) and tackles for loss (34th).
Pritchett and Mitchell were both named first-team All-SIAC and were key members of an offensive line that powered the Benedict offense, averaging 388.7 yards of total offense per game. The Tigers averaged 303 passing yards per game, fourth best in the country.
