WASHINGTON (September 10, 2021) – Howard University men’s tennis team revealed its fall and spring schedules for the 2021-22 season, including three fall tournaments and eight home contests. The announcement came Friday afternoon.
Before the season, HU will take part in three fall tourneys in preparation for the 2022 spring campaign.
FALL
HU opens the fall season at Mount St. Mary’s for the Mountaineer Invitational (Sept. 10-12), followed by a trip to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Lehigh Invitational (Sept. 18-19), hosted by Lehigh University.
Howard closes out the fall with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament (Oct. 14-17) in Annapolis, Md.
SPRING
HU begins the 2022 spring campaign with a five-match home stand at The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation’s East Capitol Campus, starting with crosstown foe UDC (Feb. 12).
The next day (Feb. 13), Howard takes on Lehigh head-to-head, followed by matchup versus Mount St. Mary’s (Feb. 20).
Howard wraps up the home stand with back-to-back contests against Longwood (Feb. 25) and Loyola-Maryland (Feb. 26).
In March, the squad starts a four-match road swing against crosstown rival Georgetown (March 8) before heading to Cary, N.C., for the league’s round up (March 17-19). In that three-day span, the Bison face North Carolina Central (March 17), South Carolina State (March 18) and Norfolk State (March 19).
HU returns to The District for three consecutive matches at the Banneker Recreational Center, beginning with Bucknell (March 27).
In April, the Bison begin with a pair of matchups against Baltimore foes Coppin State (April 1) and Morgan State (April 2).
On April 9, Howard closes out the regular season at Navy before traveling to Norfolk, Va., for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament (April 21-23).
