MONTGOMERY, Ala. | In the Hornets’ final game until the new year, Alabama State picked up their second victory of the season as they downed the Lane College Dragons 90-78 on Thursday inside Dunn Oliver Acadome. Isaiah Range logged a season-high 31 points in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duane Posey got the Hornets off to a strong start with ASU’s first four points followed by two free throws from Isaiah Range to put Alabama State in front by six points in the first two minutes.
- Range scored the Hornets’ next six points to give ASU a 10-point advantage (12-2) with 17:49 left to play in the first half.
- Lane College put together a 6-5 run but ASU still held the 19-8 advantage at the 15-minute mark in the first half.
- Range finished the first half with 17 points followed by 11 points from Posey to give ASU a 52-38 lead heading into the intermission.
- Lane College opened the second half on a 6-0 run in the opening minute to cut the deficit to eight points (52-44).
- Antonio Madlock ended Lane’s run with a three-pointer at the 17:38 mark in the second half.
- The Dragons cut the margin to six points (60-54) with 13 minutes left to play in the second frame.
- Range and Alex Anderson scored three points apiece to put the Hornets back in front by 12 points, 66-54.
- The Hornets’ lead grew to as much as 18 points with four minutes left to play in the second half.
- Range finished with a season-high 31 points to power Alabama State to a 90-78 victory over the Lane College Dragons.
