Jackson State Women Remains Unbeaten In SWAC Play With Victory Over Mississippi Valley State

ITTA BENA, Miss.| Miya Crump dropped a double-double registering 13 point and 11 rebounds as the Jackson State women’s basketball team made its way to a 70-54 victory over Mississippi Valley State on the road Saturday. JSU improved to 10-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with the win.

The Tigers had two other players score in double figures as Zakiya Mahoney tacked on 12 points and seven rebounds and Andriana Avent chipped in as well with 11 points. JSU got a 23-point performance from the bench Saturday night.

Jackson State out-rebounded Mississippi Valley State 49-36 in Saturday’s game, paced by Crump’s 11 boards. The Tigers also pulled down 15 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second chance points. The Tigers forced 17 Mississippi Valley State turnovers. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 16 points on the other end of the floor. Taylor Woodhouse led the way individually with two steals.
