Lady Tigers Close Out Homestand With Record Setting Performance Vs. Allen

Jacksonville, Florida-The Edward Waters Women’s Soccer program, in just its second season, has experienced many ebbs and flows. Wednesday afternoon’s outing against visiting Allen University will go down as the most memorable moment in the brief history of the program. The Lady Tigers closed out their five-game homestand by setting a new program record for goals in a match, defeating the Lady Yellow Jackets 16-1 at the Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.

EWU (4-3) came out swinging early and often, peppering Allen with a program high 40 shots in the match with 32 of them coming in the first half of play.

led by the fantastic play of freshman forward Queen Moore. The Orange Park native set a brand-new program record for goals scored by a Lady Tigers in a match, scoring five in the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 15th, & 17th minutes of the first half.

Sophomore Amy Hernandez notched her first career hat trick in the match, while both Ibukun (Mercy) Lawson), junior Jianna Jones, and sophomore Alicia Dugan each recorded two goals. Sophomore Rayven Norman rounded out the Lady Tigers scoring barrage, recording her second goal of the season in the 60th minute.

Allen (0-3)¬†recorded their first goal of the season in the 20th minute off of the foot of Sha’keryah Passmore.

Freshman Sheila Pascual moved her record to 4-1 on the season with the win.

Edward Waters will hit the road on Saturday, for a crosstown matchup with Trinity Baptist. The match will take place at the Eagle Harbor Soccer Complex in Fleming Island and will kick off at 5:30pm.
