NORFOLK, Va., May 9, 2022—Delaware State senior Alan Alonso was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Kyle Cincinnati was named Rookie of the Week, while Maryland Eastern Shore senior Cameron Bratton earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Alonso (6-1, INF, Sr., Miami, Fla.) was 4-for-8 (.500) at the plate in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep of first-place Coppin State, driving in three runs and scoring five times. Three of his four hits were for extra bases, as Alonso hit a double and a triple in the first game – a contest in which he went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored. He was 2-for-5 in the nightcap, hitting his fifth home run of the season and driving in a pair. He slugged 1.250 and had a .556 on-base percentage in the two games.
Cincinnati (5-10, Fr., C, Sinking Spring, Pa.) had an impressive all-around game against Norfolk State on Friday. He went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI single in the Hawks’ 3-0 victory, while also catching Cameron Bratton’s second complete-game shutout of the season. He gunned down a runner trying to steal second and also applied the tag on a play at the plate to preserve the shutout.
Bratton (5-11, Sr., P, Cumberland, Md.) threw a complete-game shutout against Norfolk State on Friday, giving up just two hits and one walk while striking out six. He faced just one batter over the minimum in picking up his second complete-game shutout over the Spartans of the season.

Peter Carreca (Delaware State) gave up two hits and no runs in four innings to pick up the win against Coppin State.
Mike Carrington (Delaware State) struck out four and gave up just one hit in three innings pitched to pick up the save against Coppin State.
