MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 22, 2021Norfolk State junior Evans Cheruiyot was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Norfolk State junior Fridah Koech was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Cheruiyot (Jr., Iten, Kenya) ran the fastest 8K time of the weekend – and of the season in the MEAC – this past weekend at the Virginia Invitational, coming in 25th with a 25:42.8.

Koech (Jr., Kericho, Kenya) once again turned in the top 5K time of the weekend, running an 18:58.7 at the Virginia Invitational to finish 36th.

Other Top Performers
Ayoade Adebiyi (Howard) came in seventh at the JMU Invitational, running a 26:42.5 over 8K.

Camille Egbula (Howard) ran a 22:09.30 over 5.2K at the JMU Invitational to finish 43rd.

Ashton Drake (North Carolina Central) ran a 20:13.1 over 6K at the adidas XC Challenge.

Victoria Swepson (North Carolina Central) came in 49th at the adidas XC Challenge, completing the 5K course in 19:39.7.
