SIAC announces baseball weekly honors 04.02

ATLANTA  The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly honors for baseball Tuesday, April 2. Miles’ Camden Matthews was named Baseball Player of the Week, and Kentucky State’s Solomon Reed was named Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Camden Matthews, Miles College
#14 | Pitcher/First Base | Junior | Scottsboro, GA
Miles split four games last week, but Matthews swung a big bat, slashing .467/.500/.667 with three doubles and 10 RBI. His best performances came in the Golden Bears’ victories. He went 2-for-4 with four RBI in a win over Benedict on Sunday to finish a three-game sweep. On Friday, He had a 3-for-5 performance with five RBI in a win at Savannah State. The reliever also picked up his first win of the season on the mound at SSU, throwing a season-high three innings while allowing just two hits and one run while striking out six.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Solomon Reed, Kentucky State University
#7 | Right-Handed Pitcher | Senior | Cincinnati, OH
Reed pitched all nine innings in the final game against LeMoyne-Owen March 30. The game saw Reed with one unearned run, three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.
