SIAC announces softball weekly honors

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly honors for softball Tuesday, April 2. LeMoyne-Owen’s Kelby Harvey was named Softball Player of the Week, and Spring Hill’s Leighanna Turk was named Softball Pitcher of the Week.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kelby Harvey, LeMoyne-Owen College
#3 | Shortstop | Freshman | Carthage, MS
Harvey set new season highs for the Magicians last week. The freshman shortstop led her team with eight putouts, four RBIs, four runs scored, three hits and two doubles in a single game. Over the week, she led the team with five RBIs and three doubles. Harvey hit .571, going 4-for-7, with five RBIs, four runs scored, three doubles, a triple and a walk.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Leighanna Turk, Spring Hill College
#6 | Pitcher/First Base | Sophomore |  Bay Minette, AL
Turk pitched a complete game in Monday’s 10-0 run-rule win against Miles that completed the series sweep. She struck out six batters and scattered four hits while giving up no runs across 6.0 innings. Turk leads the Badgers in strikeouts (35).
