SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors: Jan. 24

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Texas Southern’s Andriana Avent and Alabama State’s Ayana Emmanuel for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.

Player of the Week
Avent averaged 27.0 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 3.0 steals per game, 2.0 assists per game and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 13-of-14 from the charity stripe this past week. She shot 47 percent from the three-point line (9-of-19) while scoring 23 points at Alabama A&M and 31 points at Alabama State respectively.

Impact Player of the Week
Emmanuel scored a combined 43 points in two contests this past week while averaging 21.5 points per game. She registered 23 points during ASU’s win over PVAMU on Saturday and followed that up with a 20-point performance during a Hornets’ win over Texas Southern on Monday. Emmanuel also averaged 7.0 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, 2.0 steals per game while playing a total of 39.1 minutes per contest.
