WASHINGTON (September 23, 2021) – Howard University men’s & women’s swimming and diving program uncovered its 2021-22 schedule, featuring three home events at Burr Pool. The announcement came Thursday.

HU returns to the pool after missing the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19.

“We are so excited to get back in the pool,” said Howard Director of Swimming & Diving Nicholas Askew. “We have been preparing for this moment and we’re ready to make some noise.”

On Sept. 24, Howard travels crosstown for the annual Potomac Relays, hosted by American University.

Three weeks later (Oct. 16), the Bison host Georgetown in their home opener, followed by another home contest against the Eagles in dual competition (Oct. 29).

In November, HU heads to Lexington, Va., to face Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in a head-to-head matchup (Nov. 6), then goes to Loretto, Pa., for a tri-meet with Long Island and host Saint Francis (Pa.) (Nov. 13).

Howard closes out the 2021 year with the mid-season championships in Baltimore, hosted by Loyola (Md.).

HU starts the New Year in Catonsville, Md., against UMBC (Jan. 15), then returns home for their final home meet of the season versus newly Northeast Conference (NEC) rival Mount St. Mary’s (Jan. 22). During that week, the program will celebrate their current seniors and alum who graduated in 2021.

“It’s only fitting to recognize those who missed their senior day a year ago,” Askew explained. “They played a big role in building this program. I can’t wait to see them return home.”

On Jan. 29, Howard finishes the regular season at crosstown foe Catholic.

In February, HU heads to Geneva, Ohio for the NEC Championships (Feb. 22-26). Next month (March 10-12), several Bison individuals will take part in the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational.
